Adrian P. Burke (1904-2000) grew up in the Bronx and lived most of his adult life in New York City. He had a successful law practice during the Depression and war years, played a major role in the New York State Constitutional Convention of 1938, successfully managed the mayoral campaign of Robert F. Wagner, Jr. in 1953, served as Corporation Counsel for the City of New York in 1973. Everything I Needed comprises the memoirs and several of the most important court decisions of Adrian Burke, reflecting Judge Burke's enormous fondness for New York City and his encounters with major political figures such as, Harry Truman, Fiorello La Guardia, Tomas Dewey, Richard Nixon. Through his brother, Hollywood actor James Burke, Adrian also came in contact with and here offers his reflections on a host of entertainment figures.Judge Burke’s court decisions are selected and introduced by Marjorie McCoy, Chief Attorney of the Court of Appeals. This project had the enthusiastic and kind support of the Honorable Judith S. Kaye, Chief Judge of the New York State court of Appeals.
The book was compiled and edited by Adrian Burke’s son Frank (PhD.), a Professor of Film Studies at Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario, Canada.
